Sweat Myths, Busted: 6 Things Everyone Gets Wrong

For something every single human does, sweat carries a lot of misinformation. Time to retire the greatest hits.

Myth 1: Sweat smells

Fresh sweat is basically odourless. The smell arrives when skin bacteria start feasting on it. Odour is a bacteria problem, not a sweat problem — which is why Pitt Stop targets the bacteria instead of blocking your pores.

Myth 2: Sweating a lot means you're unfit

Often the opposite. Fit bodies are efficient coolers — they start sweating sooner and harder. That post-run waterfall? A sign the system works.

Myth 3: Antiperspirant and deodorant are the same thing

Antiperspirants block sweat with aluminium. Deodorants tackle odour and let your body do its thing. We're firmly team deodorant.

Myth 4: Natural deodorant is supposed to sting

No. Stinging usually means bicarb or other harsh ingredients irritating your skin. Skoop skips the bicarb entirely — freshness shouldn't hurt.

Myth 5: Only athletes get chafe

Anyone with skin can chafe — commuters, brides, beach-goers, people who walk places in summer. That's why Skin Shield exists.

Myth 6: You should hide the fact that you sweat

Hard no. Sweat is your body regulating, cooling and performing. The shame was never yours to carry — and we'll keep saying it louder.
