Why We Don’t Use Aluminium in Our Sweat Care
At Skoop, we’re all about creating sweat care that works with your body, not against it. And that starts with being intentional about what goes into our products, and what doesn’t.
One ingredient you won’t find in our formulas is aluminium.
Let’s get into why.
First things first:
We’re not doctors, and we’re not here to tell you what you should or shouldn’t use. Everyone’s body is different, and what works for one person might not work for another.
Our goal is to share what we know, be transparent about our choices, and encourage you to do your own research and make informed decisions that feel right for you.
So, what is aluminium doing in sweat products?
Aluminium is commonly used in traditional antiperspirants. Its role is to temporarily block sweat glands, reducing the amount of sweat that reaches the surface of the skin.
It’s also a low-cost, widely used ingredient, which is one of the reasons it’s so common in products designed to “stop” sweat.
For some people, that approach works. But for us, it raised a bigger question.
Should sweat be something we’re trying to stop completely?
Our take on sweat
Sweat is a natural, essential bodily function. It helps regulate your temperature, supports your body during movement, and plays a key role in keeping you cool.
At Skoop, we don’t see sweat as something to eliminate. We see it as something to understand and manage in a way that feels comfortable.
Because for most people, the real issue isn’t sweat itself. It’s the discomfort that can come with it.
Chafe, irritation, excess moisture, and odour, these are the things that impact your day-to-day.
Why we choose to leave aluminium out
When we set out to create Skoop, we knew we wanted to take a different approach.
Instead of blocking sweat entirely, we focus on supporting the skin. That means helping to absorb excess moisture, reduce friction, manage odour, and keep you feeling comfortable, without interfering with your body’s natural processes.
It also meant rethinking traditional formulations. Going deeper, working harder, and being more intentional with every ingredient we use.
For us, leaving out aluminium is part of that philosophy.
It’s about choice, not fear
There’s a lot of noise out there when it comes to ingredients. Our approach isn’t about fear-based messaging or telling you something is “bad”.
It’s about offering an option.
One that’s thoughtful, effective, and designed for people who sweat.
